Worked Culinary Example

Scenario: Converting an 8-inch round pan recipe to a 9-inch round pan.

  1. 8-inch round area = π × 4² = 50.3 sq in.
  2. 9-inch round area = π × 4.5² = 63.6 sq in.
  3. Multiplier = 63.6 ÷ 50.3 = 1.26x (+26% batter).
Result: Multiply all ingredients by 1.26 or prepare 1.25x batter.

Common Kitchen Mistakes to Avoid
